My Two Mommies
Based in the United States, my2mommies is an online resource for lesbian mothers. It provides information, support, an online shop and a place to share stories and resources. The site aims to make the often-daunting idea of raising a child in a lesbian relationship that little bit easier by reminding visitors they are not alone; as well as offering information and advice.
First Choice Flight Booker
First Choice are one of the largest holiday companies in the UK and their online Flight Booker receives many millions of hits throughout the year. For this reason, it is even more important than usual to ensure that the code it uses is efficient and streamlined. I was contracted to provide the XHTML templates for the flight booking system which would then be plugged into the ColdFusion site back-end. Because of the vast number of possible permutations that can be generated by a sprawling system like First Choice’s Flight Booker, a large number of templates were necessary, all created to an exacting standard that retained style and accessibility while simultaneously reducing the amount of code to a bare minimum.

Joanna Pawlowska Official Site
Joanna Pawlowska is a London-based artist with interests in the subjects of migration, strangeness and social isolation. Painting is her main medium of expression but she also works in printing and photography. Working to a tight budget and a supplied design, I created a site that allows Joanna to showcase her art, via customisable image galleries, as well as communicate her ideas through a fully-featured blog.
Sophia Bennett Official Site
Sophia Bennett is a UK-based writer. The author of two successful novels for young adults (Threads and Beads, Boys & Bangles), Sophia wanted a website that could both showcase existing books and allow her to keep fans updated about new work, as well as any talks, signings or other planned public appearances. Built using WordPress and including news, contact and guestbook pages; the site can be easily updated by Sophia and provides an opportunity for the author to interact directly with her readers as well as keeping them informed about her work.
Charities Evaluation Services
CES are a London-based organisation that offers advice and training to charities, as well as providing tools by which the performance of a charity may be evaluated. Written in ColdFusion while working as a subcontractor, this project involved constructing both the website and a password-protected Content Management System allowing the site to be regularly updated via a simple web interface. The CMS also allows a site administrator to maintain and organise mailing-lists and document libraries for download.
Typecast Creative
Typecast Creative is a London graphic design studio run by Rob Sutton. Responsible for a diverse range of branding projects, poster campaigns and websites, Typecast contracted me to take their existing static HTML website and expand it while converting to a WordPress-driven system. Working to a tight budget, a blog was added to the basic portfolio site, along with an additional gallery and other pages.

BozAround
Vanessa Boz is a travel writer and UK correspondent for the French magazine, Milk. Her blog contains travel tips useful for any traveller, put focuses particularly on family travelling. Just prior to beginning a six month round-the-world trip with her family, Vanessa decided to upgrade her blog from one hosted at WordPress.com hosted to a self-hosted site. The switch involved the creation of a new theme, the transfer of existing content into the new site plus the addition of new functionality via an assortment of plugins.
Slumberwall
Incorporating the band’s own artwork, this site provides fans of Leeds-based Slumberwall with the latest information on new record or book releases as well as any forthcoming live performances. Creeping Toad
Gordon McLellan is an author, artist and environmental educator whose website, creepingtoad.org.uk has been up and running for several years. Originally created in static HTML, Gordon now wanted to upgrade the site to WordPress, providing far greater control over the site content as well as the addition of a new blog; all the while maintaining the original design.
Channel 4: Don’t Panic!
Produced to coincide with a season of Channel 4 television programmes about terrorism, this microsite was designed primarily to provide links to books and online resources that dealt with the issue. The look and feel of the site along with the content, though dealing with a serious subject, were designed to have a slightly lighter touch than the information they pointed to.

The Skibbereen & West Carbery Golf Club
The Skibbereen & West Carbery Golf Club wanted a website that fulfilled two functions. Firstly, to provide golfing visitors to West Cork with all the information they’d need to find and play the course. Secondly, to provide members with access to club news and competition results within a static site. The first was achieved by updating the site design allowing easy access to critical information and by optimising the site so that it consistently ranks as the top individual club on google searches for combinations of ‘golf’ and ‘west cork’. The second by producing a simplified HTML template for news and competitions that is easily updated by non-programmers.

Revitalise
This brochure site was produced to advertise the services of an Holistic Massage Therapist working locally in South West Dublin. Despite the relatively simple nature of the project, it was built onto the WordPress publishing platform allowing the owner to edit and update the site content with ease.

The IWLA
The Irish Women Lawyer’s Association (IWLA) needed to modernise their membership database to allow them to better communicate with their members as well as to keep track of membership payments. All from several different locations. Written in ColdFusion and SQL, this secure extranet gives them those facilities and more.
Secure password-protected site
The ISCF
The International Stem Cell Forum (ISCF) site was developed by a relatively large team. Myself and a colleague had the job of converting a large number of photoshop images into XHTML compliant templates for use by the back-end developers who slotted the templates into their server-side code. Ensuring that the XHTML you produce is easily integrated into someone else’s code is a great way of forcing you to think carefully about the work you’re doing and teaches some lasting lessons about developing coherent and logical mark-up.
DillyDally Books
This brochure site is an example of a more simple, small-scale web project. Created as a shop-front for a pair of self-published books, this static site with PayPal integration was produced quickly to coincide with the book launch, yet successfully and elegantly performs its function.
